Karl Hanke, M.Sc., P.Eng. (ON), is a Water Resources Engineer at Baird & Associates, where he has worked for seven years. Baird specializes in river and coastal engineering and has supported the offshore wind energy sector for over two decades. For the past three years, Karl has contributed to Navigation Safety Risk Assessments for offshore wind projects in the United States, serving as lead modeler on three assessments using Baird’s proprietary navigational risk modeling system. He is currently involved in the system’s development and conducts detailed vessel traffic analyses in support of marine infrastructure – most recently, for the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland. Originally from Canada’s East Coast, Karl is passionate about offshore wind and its role in decarbonizing the energy system.
