Martin Moody is a principal electrical engineer at BMT, with over 20 years experience in the smart grid, renewable integration, marine and defence industries. Over the last 8 years, Martin has led the development of BMT’s Microgrid Interface Unit (MIU). The MIU has been the heart of microgrids for a tidal energy demonstration in Nova Scotia, a permanent microgrid test lab at the National Research Council in Vancouver, and the Blind Channel community in British Columbia.
Previously Martin has been the lead electrical engineer in designing and commissioning electrical systems for submarines and hovercrafts. Martin has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in mechatronics from the University of Adelaide, Australia, and Master of Engineering degree in sustainable electrical energy systems from the Technological University Dublin, Ireland.
