Sam received his M.Sc. from McGill University in the field of oceanography. He is a senior marine ecologist and oceanographer with Stantec Consulting Ltd. in Nova Scotia and has more than 35 years consulting experience on projects in the marine environment. He has undertaken baseline, environmental impact assessment and environmental effects monitoring studies for infrastructure projects in Canada, and internationally. Sam has provided multidisciplinary services and expertise to support projects such as offshore oil and gas exploration and drilling, hydro-electric, thermal and renewable energy production facilities, and sewerage and industrial processing facilities with their outfalls located in the aquatic environment. He has also conducted environmental studies for ports, harbours and marine pipelines and cables, including studies to support and monitor in-water physical works.
