Tony LaPierre is a marine geophysicist with 40 years of industry experience and a record of accomplishment in technical and business endeavors. Tony founded and grew a company in Nova Scotia to become the leading provider of marine geophysical consultancy services in Canada. He won the 2004 Export Achievement Award for Growth in New Markets from Nova Scotia Business Inc and in 2006 his company was acquired to become part of RPS. Tony was appointed VP RPS Canada in 2006 and continued to grow the consultancy business in Canada and overseas. Five years later, appointed Technical Director of Seismic Operations and Site Investigations with RPS in Houston with worldwide responsibilities and in 2023 with the acquisition of RPS become part of Tetra Tech. Tony works with a team of specialists who help clients manage large and complex geophysics and geotechnical projects globally in support of oil and gas exploration and production, carbon capture and storage, and offshore renewables. He has a Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor with Honors in Geology both from Dalhousie University and professional designations of P.Geoph. (Alberta) and P.Geo. (Nova Scotia). He has been a Board member (VP) with the Geophysical Society of Houston and over the course of his career Tony has presented at conferences in around the world. Through project work Tony has witnessed the key role seismic data has played in offshore exploration and development including offshore Nova Scotia. His interests include the advancements of seismic technology developed in support of offshore oil and gas and the application and adaptation of these technologies in support of the development of offshore renewables projects.
