Ottawa (Ontario), August 20, 2026 – The winds of change are here, and Canada’s marine renewable energy sector is experiencing perhaps the greatest momentum in its history.
With Nova Scotia’s first offshore wind Call for Bids targeted for 2026 as part of the province’s goal to license 5 GW of offshore wind by 2030, recent awards supporting 15 MW of tidal energy development in the Bay of Fundy, significant federal and provincial policy advancements, and a growing number of strategic Memorandums of Understanding, the pieces are falling into place for marine renewables in Canada.
Marine Renewables Canada (MRC) is at the heart of this momentum as the country’s only national industry association advocating for offshore wind, tidal, wave, and river current energy. Since 2004, we have worked with our members to advance Canada’s marine renewable energy sector and help them seize opportunities in this growing global market.
Our 2026 Conference & Exhibition, taking place in Ottawa from November 17-19, will be one of the industry’s most important opportunities to come together at this pivotal time.
