Chad LaFitte

Chad is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with 13 years of experience working on large-scale energy projects. As Manager of Innovation & Opportunities, he develops proposals for consulting and research projects and provides advisory services in petroleum engineering, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and project delivery.
As part of this role, Chad leads the energy systems and software development teams responsible for Angler’s MESO platform, a ‘Model for Energy Systems Optimization’ used for techno-economic analysis of renewable and hybrid energy projects. Chad oversees the use of MESO for consulting projects across various energy sectors, and supports Angler’s intellectual property (IP) activities, funding applications, and SR&ED filings.

Previously, Chad held Senior Engineering roles at Cenovus and Husky Energy as an Innovation Engineer and Reservoir Engineer. He supported offshore oil developments in Atlantic Canada, SAGD and conventional heavy oil in Western Canada, and offshore gas projects in the Asia-Pacific region. At Cenovus, Chad served as the company’s representative in COSIA and Pathways Alliance working groups, providing engineering support to CCS and technology development in Alberta.

Chad holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and a Master of Engineering (Oil and Gas) from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Qualified Reserves Evaluator (QRE).
