Dan is a marine biologist and strategic leader with extensive experience advancing marine resource management and sustainable offshore energy development in Atlantic Canada. His work focuses on bridging science, policy, industry, and stakeholder interests to support evidence-based decision-making in complex marine environments. Dan has led and contributed to numerous initiatives involving fisheries, biodiversity conservation, and offshore energy development, with a particular emphasis on data accessibility, collaborative governance, and responsible ocean stewardship. He is recognized for his ability to convene diverse partners and develop innovative approaches to addressing emerging challenges in the ocean sector.
Dan holds a PhD in Biology from Dalhousie University and a MSc in Biology from Acadia University. He has also served as a Research Associate at both the University of Washington and the University of California, Santa Cruz.
