Federico Pisanò joined NGI in January 2023 and currently serves as Manager, Energy Transition and Emerging Markets. He earned his Ph.D. degree in 2011 from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California at Davis (2012) and Politecnico di Milano (2013). In 2014, he joined TU Delft in the Netherlands as Assistant Professor of Offshore Soil Mechanics and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. His technical expertise centers on the development and application of advanced numerical models to understand and predict soil behavior and soil–structure interaction processes, with a particular emphasis on offshore wind applications.

Federico has co-authored about 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He co-chaired the 4th International Symposium on Cone Penetration Testing (CPT’18) and currently serves as Chair of the ISSMGE Technical Committee TC209 on Offshore Geotechnics. He is also a member of the SUT-US Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics (OSIG) committee, the ASCE Aerospace, Space Engineering and Construction Committee, and serves as Associate Editor for the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering. His recognitions include the ISSMGE Bright Spark Lecture Award for emerging academics (2019) and the ICE David Hislop Offshore Award (2022).

In his current role at NGI, Federico works at the interface between industry and academia, supporting both consulting and R&D activities. His primary focus is on innovation and emerging markets across the Americas, while leading NGI’s team in Boston.
