Rezvan Rakhshan is a Research Engineer with the Pacific Regional Institute for Marine Energy Discovery (PRIMED) at the University of Victoria. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Iran.
Prior to joining PRIMED, she worked in the oil and gas industry as a design and manufacturing engineer, contributing to the development of turbomachinery equipment including centrifugal compressors, industrial fans, inlet guide vanes, and associated mechanical systems. Her work involved engineering design, manufacturing support, performance testing, and the development of numerical models for performance prediction and design evaluation. Through these projects, she gained experience in product development, computational analysis, and turbomachinery system design.
At PRIMED, Rezvan supports the development of marine renewable energy technologies through engineering design, numerical modeling, and manufacturing activities. Her work includes the design and structural assessment of floating platforms and subsea equipment, including underwater junction box systems and tidal energy infrastructure. She has conducted finite element and fatigue analyses of offshore structures and contributes to the development of hydrodynamic and performance models for tidal energy devices using computational fluid dynamics and multi-body dynamics approaches. Her interests include the design and development of turbomachinery systems, marine renewable energy, hydrodynamic modeling, structural and fatigue analysis, and engineering design for manufacturable and deployable offshore systems.
