Tanya Martinez is a seasoned energy developer and engineer with more than 20 years of experience developing community- and utility-scale energy projects across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. She has led the development and delivery of more than 2 GW of renewable energy projects. Tanya is the Founder, CEO and Chief Development Officer of Mi’kma’ki Energy, an Indigenous-led energy company focused on advancing First Nations energy sovereignty and creating long-term economic opportunities through clean energy development. She leads the company’s development efforts across Canada, including onshore and offshore wind, solar, energy storage, and other renewable energy opportunities. Her expertise spans the full project development lifecycle, including strategic energy planning, siting, interconnection, power purchase agreements, permitting, land agreements, project financing, First Nations consultation, and stakeholder engagement. Tanya is Mi’kmaq from Ugpi’ganjig First Nation and Puerto Rican. Her work is grounded in ensuring First Nations have a meaningful role in shaping and benefiting from the energy transition.
